This one issue that im sure those of you who have active actually listen to that little cautious voice in your mind have come across. More especially if u do not belive in stealing, cheating or generally thieving and scheming to get rich. The question is, is it ever justified??

Some one cries yes...someone esle says no.

Lets say for example you work in a bank, everytime you carry out a transaction, your clients show you a bit of appreciation in the amount of 50K, u earn 500k. Logically, the bank pays you to do your job so u shd not be accepting any amount out of your salary, yes? U myt rationalise that 50k isnt a lot and well it is appreciation and you should take it, kinda like the tip u leave in a restaurant. ((this is not related, someone was asking y we dont tip check out persons in supermarkets...lol...there myt be a point there)))

Onto harder stuff. Your job requires you to sell an idea/program whatever and make a about 20% profit for your company. So u go in, do your thing and actually 40% which means your boss will get 3,000,000 at the end of the month instead of 2mln while u wil earn ur usual 600k. Say u had the opportunity during the project to make money worth 700. wld u take the chance or again be rational n b the good christain u are and earn your modest 600?

Interestingly enough depending on how u look at it, u are entitled to the 700 coz its ur hard labour either way that will make the client pay up. Ever notice how when things are positive ur boss takes all the credit and when things go a bit crazy, they let u take the fall and demand that u fix things???

One thing that always bothers me is this thing of being a lawyer. Do lawyers actually lie or do they give u aversion of the truth? coz what is truth really? Truth is perception which is why we have this ongoing battle about faith and belief. U do not neccessarily have to be a lawyer to talk urself out of a mess, the person believes you because u are giving a credible explanation of events. If you use the same logic, then scheeming 700k is okay coz its realistically your blood and sweat.

But then again, wat is cheating or stealing? Taking something that is not yours. By schemming, u take what is not directly yours, u cover ur tracks n hope no one catches on. Well in short u b corrupt!!

On the other hand, is corruption justifiable in such an unfair world, where sweat and tears n months of total dedication to the job culminate in minimal pay and no appreciation whatsoever?

Or, are u exactly worth what you are paid and should accept the status qou and live within your means? Ur "worth"??

The moral question is one thing many of us try to dim from our minds.Sometimes when a source(client)gives me a transport refund or a freebie, the guilt tickles ma insides but acceptance seems the easiest thing to do.Like you said, one is tempted to take it as appreciation for work well done.

  2. Well, I don't have that `other voice'. It died, so there is only one, for me, and it has no competition. It just tells me `rob!', and I rob. :oD

Actually, thing is, your boss deserves the Lion's Share of your sweat's earnings, because he is boss. The only way you can get to earn off your employees the same way is to become a boss. It's not easy being a boss (found company, register it, keep it running, finances, debts, contracts ...) hence the fairness in all that. Considering they take care of putting you in a situation where you can actually begin to sweat to make the dough, they deserve it. Just my opinion. ;o)
